CODE OF ETHICS AND SAFETY

CARRY OUT YOUR ACTIVITIES IN DESIGNATED AREAS AND WITH APPROPRIATE EQUIPMENT

  • Limit your activities to areas suggested by park management.
  • Snowshoeing trails require the use of snowshoes (or crampons when conditions permit), and ski-snowshoeing is not permitted.
  • In the Mt-Plante sector, you’ll need dedicated alpine touring skis, telemark skis or a splitboard. Helmets must be worn.
  • Summer cycling requires a mountain bike, closed shoes and a helmet.
  • When climbing, use safe equipment and wear a protective helmet.
  • Where there are trails, avoid taking shortcuts. This illegal practice is destructive to flora.
  • When there are trails, use them and walk single file in the middle of the path, even if it’s muddy or wet. Bypassing these areas contributes greatly to the deterioration of the flora and causes additional erosion.
  • Even in winter, off-trail traffic is damaging to small trees buried under the snow.

Respect the signs to ensure your safety and to protect the park.

DISPOSE OF WASTE PROPERLY

  • Bring back any waste, leftover food or garbage. Before setting off again, inspect the rest areas to ensure that no garbage or food remains are left behind.
  • Even pick up litter that isn’t yours. Let park management know if you can’t bring back any waste (barrels, wooden planks, etc.).
  • Use the toilet when it’s nearby, for both urine and excrement.

FORBIDDEN

OPEN-AIR CAMPFIRES ARE PROHIBITED.

LEAVE INTACT WHAT YOU DISCOVER:

  • Help preserve our heritage: touch only with your eyes.
  • Leave stones, plants and other natural objects where they are.
  • Don't build any kind of structure or layout.

RESPECT WILDLIFE:

  • Enjoy the flora without uprooting or trampling it.
  • Observe wildlife from a distance. Do not follow or approach wild animals.
  • Never feed a wild animal. This can be detrimental to its health and alters its natural behavior,
ultimately harming its chances of survival.
  • Your pet MUST BE LEASHED.

RESPECT OTHER VISITORS:

  • Be respectful of other visitors and the quality of their experience.
  • Be courteous. Give way to others on the trail.
  • Let the sounds of nature predominate. Speak softly and avoid being noisy.
